Our History
Our history
Established in 1959 by Armand Belcastro, Newburgh Banana sold primarily bananas that were delivered to the facility by train. The bananas were hung in coolers and ripened on the stem, then cut and packaged for customer delivery. Several years later the bananas were delivered pre packaged alleviating much of the hands on work. In 1989 Armand's son Dave came on board and together grew the business and product line into a very successful, customer oriented fruit wholesale/ripening company.
Our customer base extends throughout the Hudson Valley including Albany, Brewster, Monroe, and Middletown area, servicing large retail chains to small convenient stores and public walk-in customers. In 2008 family member John Disciglio bought the company and still works alongside Dave at the facility to continue in providing quality fruit to customers.

Our Business Today
Today the business still successfully operates under John and Dave, who have specialized in banana ripening and understanding the produce industry for many years. We have expanded the business by carrying more products and serving more customers. Recently John's son, John Jr who has grown up in the business has taken a management role and is working alongside John Sr and Dave, bringing a new and young perspective into the operation of the business. We are continuously stocking new products and servicing more customers. Armand 90 years young still checks in every day.
